2001-11-14 legs	Home.net now has a PDP-11! A gift from Pete (cheers!), it is a reasonable specced LSI-11 with a decent sized disc and lots of RAM. I hope to run UNIX on this at some point.
2001-09-14 voltaire	Hardware upgrade. New ATX case to accomodate the P450 with 128 MB RAM. Disk moves from 10 GB. This machine was P133/98MB/4GB.
2001-09-13 malachite	Hardware upgrade. The P450/128MB motherboard is replaced with a P700/512MB. Voltaire to get an upgrade from bits.
2001-08-19 slab	Home.net gains some black hardware - and it's a freebie! From the electronics department, via Pete Turnbull (cheers, Pete), it's in pretty good nick. The screen is a little dark, but I can live with that. It arrived with 16 MB, but I've doubled that. I'll need to get a bigger HDD and a fresh install of NEXTSTEP.
2001-05-24 notwoz	Monitor upgraded from a 12 inch to a fourteen inch model. Thanks, Pete!
2001-02-22 ampere	Got an email from Joel Baker - the guy who bought ampere. The machine has been given more RAM, more disk, a nice big monitor, and Elan graphics! Glad it went to a good home
2000-12-01 indy	Another SGI joins home.net, obtained from work. It came with 64 MB and a monitor, but 32 MB and the monitor were donated to teal.
2000-11-19 ampere	Sold - for space and to recover the cost of teal. Got 70 quid for it though. Pretty good
2000-11-08 teal	A proud new member of home.net. A mere 30 quid, but no monitor, keyboard, mouse or memory. Bits and pieces scrabbled together to get it working - purpurite had to sacrifice its monitor.
2000-11-05 voltaire	Hardware upgrade. Got the old bits from malachite.
2000-11-03 malachite	Hardware upgrade. Quite a nippy machine, now.
2000-07-01 vsta	Installed Plan 9. Now I need a file server...
2000-06-14 hardball	A new machine joins the fold! I bought hardball from a sale of old kit at work. No monitor yet. I got an HP 4Si printer and a few other bits too.
2000-03-15 dinky	Another acquisition. A freebie from work, saved from the skip. I must reinstall the OS because the current install seems a bit broken.
2000-01-31 clunky	Installed Minix. There is a problem with the HDD spinning down and not coming back. This affects DOS aswell.
2000-01-29 clunky	Installed Linux - a challenge on a machine of such limited resources. First boot takes over fifteen minutes! After much culling of services, I got it down to two minutes.
2000-01-28 malachite	Upgraded HDD from 850 MB to 2.1 GB.
1999-12-14 carrera	Obtained a Link Technologies (now swallowed by Wyse) terminal. Hooked it up to discover that carrera now has a SCSI controller fault!
1999-11-11 clunky	Attempted to replace a broken backlight. Came to the conclusion that I could not get the LCD assembly apart without damage. I'll just have to live with a dark top half.
1999-11-11 clunky	Replaced broken internal hard drive. Had to pinch a funny power connector from the old drive.
1999-10-25	Started the logbook.
1999-10-23 newt	Built a PSU and, having found the right connector, it seems to work reliably. Got it hooked up to notwoz via localtalk. It is now backed up.
1999-10-22 notwoz	Upgraded RAM from 8 to 12 MB. Used a double sided 8 MB SIMM which is supposed to be problematic, but it seems to be working fine.
